Is there a doctor among the readers?

First of all, let me wish you and your friends & family my best wishes for the new year. Let’s hope it brings us more G.I. Joe (I’d really like to see a new cartoon) and more collecting fun.

It’s been a while since I posted something, but I’ve been having some health issues, nothing major, but lots of annoying little things that kept me from being creative to be honest. 2023 has been a good year for the site, we’ve been getting more visitors and interaction than the years before, so the growth is real 🙂 Thank you all for your time and interest. The G.I. Joe community truly is a warm and inclusive group of people.

I was originally going to continue this post with some pictures of the Classified Dr. Mindbender (Deluxe figure) I received a while back, but then I realized that I’d put all my figures in storage already, so there will be no pictures 🙁 It wasn’t just everyone’s favorite orthodontist I received and put in storage, but also Serpentor, Wolf Spider, Scrap-Iron, Snow Serpent, Grunt, the Python Patrol Trubble Bubble, Tripwire, Mole Rat and the Steel Corps Troopers. More on this below.

Frequent readers will know that my entire collection is in storage since we moved house in 2018. The plan was to make 2 rooms in the attic, one for my daughter and one for my collection. We had to give priority to other things in the renovation of the house and my health issues played a big part in the lack of progress for the attic. This year however, I’m determined to continue the work on the attic and to be able to put my collection back in our house and back on the shelves rather than being boxed up in storage.

Keep on coming back to get updates and naturally, I’ll be posting some more of the new toys that eventually make their way over into my collection. Some big ones should be coming soon, and there’s also a small book on the way with some artwork… Keep you posted!

Until next time, YoJoe and Happy Collecting!

Thankful wishes

Today is the last day of 2022. A year filled with lots of new Joe toys. Who would have thought that 10 years ago, when I started with this blog? This year also marks another year of growing the blog (currently +46%). I am truly thankful for all your kind words and responses I get on the posts, both here and on the socials (yes, I’m still on Twitter, on Instagram and Facebook). Thank you all for another year in which we shared our Joy for Joe.

All that’s left for me to do now is to wish you all a Happy New Year, let’s hope all those pre-orders get delivered (safely & in pristine condition) and that we get a lot more news to get excited for. My best wishes to you and yours! See you again next year!

2020 a.k.a. the best Joe year this century?

Well, another year has come and gone so I guess it’s time to look back at 2019 and forward into 2020. To be honest, I haven’t been able to put as much time into the blog as I would have hoped at the beginning of last year. The first half of 2019, post were fairly regular, but the second half of the year I has less time to spend on the blog. Overall, the blog didn’t do bad last year. We got almost 30% more visitors and over 17% more page views and all this without any advertisements. We started the year with building an army and we made it through the Impel Trading Cards from #75 to #86. I hope you all did enjoy the posts and will be back for what’s to come.

We will be getting back on track with the Impel Trading Cards, continuing where we left off with the Special Missions’ cover themed cards. I can say now, that some really good stories are still coming. Off course, I’ll drop some random post in now and again to show off some new gear, book, comic or toy or whatever I feel like sharing and is remotely connected to G.I.Joe.

Now as for 2020, I’m hopeful that we will get a good new movie focusing on Snake Eyes. The man already has 68 figure releases, so this year will be memorable when figure 69 is dropped. And then probably some other versions as well, getting his total well above 70. I’m also hoping that we’ll get the new toys over here as well, though I still have a lot of vintage Joe to collect, so I’ll be busy either way. And besides, the world has gotten smaller over the years, so if the shipping costs aren’t skyrocketing, I’ll be a happy shopper across the globe.

As for the blog, I’m organizing and planning my time so I will have one evening each week to do some writing. I still have an idea for a story that I’d like to get out on the web someday (maybe even in print if there is interest), so that will be taking of too this year and of course writing blog posts. Related to that, I’m in the market for a new laptop/tablet hybrid for my writing as well. A Remarkable looks great, but in my opinion is overpriced. Same goes for Apple, although the new iPads are better affordable now. I’m kind off locked into Microsoft though (I work for a Certified Gold Partner) and have been using their programs for years now. I’m using OneNote to prepare the blog posts and do some research. For my story – it’s to early to call it a novel(la) – I went ahead and got a license for Scrivener. I had looked at the program a while back, but had been putting it off because I didn’t have the time to write. I pulled the trigger on getting it, thinking that on some level, having the license will give me more incentive to really start writing. I’m currently still working on my 8 year old HP Elitebook 8760w. I’ve used this one for work first and then later for personal use. It may be a laptop in name, but due to the size and weight, it’s not that practical. So, I’m looking at the new Surface Pro as my next personal laptop/hybrid.

Well, now that is out of the way. Let’s focus back on G.I.Joe. 2020 will be a good year. I’m pretty sure of that. The club may be gone (for now?), but the community is very much alive and kicking with Facebook groups, podcasts, YouTube and I hope this blog as well.

Let me end by thanking all of you for your support and views, likes and messages. I hope you and your family, friends and loved ones have a wonderful year, filled with happiness, good health, love, friendship and G.I.Joe!

2018 – New Year’s Resolutions

Hi all,

let me wish you and your families all a Happy New Year. As any year, let’s hope some new Joes find their way to our collections!

Let’s look back at 2017 first. It was a good year for the site. I haven’t been able to post as much as I wanted to, but still, views and visits went up a lot compared to 2016. Thank you all for that. Without your support, it would be a whole lot harder to keep up posting stuff. As for my collection, 2017 brought some new items (cool flags – yes, one G there -, comic books, Funko Pop Destro, some bricks). Again not as much as I was planning back in January 2017, but some nice additions. Check out my Instagram page if you want to see cool pics of those. As a sneak peek, here are my #2017bestnine:

2018 promises to be quite a challenging year. We are moving to our new house, but there’s still a lot of work to do before we can move in. My entire collection will be boxed up (about 70% is already in boxes now) and will remain in boxes for a while until we can find the time and money to build rooms in the attic. I did briefly consider selling my collection, but I just can’t. It’s a part of who I am and it gives me a reason to write blog posts and maybe even stories again.

So now, here are my hopes/wishes/resolutions for 2018:

  • Make our new house a home for my family
  • Work on my health and fitness – the last half of 2017 has been painful for me, but I’ve started working on it and I feel positive changes are underway
  • Keep buying & reading the Joe comics (that will probably be all the expansion my collection will get in 2018)
  • Write more – not only more frequent blog posts, but also continue working on the novel/novella I have in my head

That’s about it I guess. Let me thank you all again for reading, visiting, following and liking. I’m not making any money on the blog, it’s just an outlet for me to talk about my collection. So the only appraisal I get for all of this is your support and feedback. Keep it coming in 2018 and as always…

Happy Collecting and YoJoe!
